"Acadia Rain" 36"x42"
watercolor on panel
DUSTAN KNIGHT

“Acadia Rain” has gone through a couple of changes .It was a bit more conservative initially, I had a clearer foreground and I was hoping to get it accepted into the SPLASH watercolor publication. But alas…so I went back into it and took the foot off the brakes a little bit and it looks and feels much better to me know.

This challenge to create with a pure heart regardless of the expectations around me are tough. I have been reading Ed Betts' Master Class in Watermedia for the tenth time and he does a good job talking about creating for the sheer joy of it! He is inspirational!

I have always loved Diebenkorn and listening to Mary Ruedig rave about the Diebenkorn/Matisse exhibit at the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) intrigued me so I began my own “Hampton Beach Series”, after Diebenkorn’s “Ocean Park Series.

I was also experimenting with aluminum panels, which are pretty cheap these days, and no one knows what to do with them, here are a few from this new series.
